This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Book An Event (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the website bookanevent.in and to the Book An Event mobile app (package com.softwavehub.bookanevent), together the “Service”.
By creating an account or making a booking, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information we collect
a) Information you give us
- Account details — your name, mobile number, email address and password (stored only in encrypted/hashed form) when you register.
- Venue / delivery address — the address you enter at checkout (house/street, locality, city, state, PIN code, landmark), with the contact name and phone number for your event.
- Booking details — the packages and services you book, your event date and any customisation you ask for.
- Profile photo — only if you choose to add one.
- Messages — what you send us through contact forms, email, phone or WhatsApp.
b) Information collected automatically
- Booking and payment records — what you booked, amounts, booking status and payment status.
- Device and usage information — IP address, device model, operating system, app version, and screens or pages viewed. In the app this is collected through Google Firebase Analytics.
- Push notification token — if you allow notifications, a device token from Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send booking updates and offers. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone settings.
c) Location — app only, and only if you allow it
The checkout screen has a “Use My Current Location” button. If you tap it, the app asks for location permission and reads your location once, to fill in your address. Every field stays editable. We do not track your location in the background. The co-ordinates are sent to Google’s geocoding service to convert them into an address; we keep only the address you submit. You can deny the permission and type your address instead.
d) Payment information
Online payments are processed by Razorpay. Card numbers, UPI PINs and net-banking credentials are entered directly with Razorpay and are never seen or stored by us. We receive only the payment reference, amount and status.
2. How we use your information
- To create and run your account and sign you in.
- To confirm, plan, set up and invoice your bookings.
- To contact you about bookings, payments and support — by phone, SMS, WhatsApp, email or push notification.
- To send offers and updates, which you can opt out of at any time.
- To meet legal obligations, including GST and accounting.
- To prevent fraud and misuse, and to fix and improve the Service.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Who we share it with
- Our event team and service partners (decorators, caterers, photographers, sound and lighting crews) — only what they need to deliver your booking, such as venue, date, time and contact number.
- Razorpay — payment processing.
- Google — Firebase Analytics, Firebase Cloud Messaging, and Maps geocoding (if you use current location).
- Hosting and email providers — to run the Service and send emails.
- Government or law enforcement — only where the law requires it.
4. Data security
All data is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections. Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. Access to customer data is limited to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account or data, we delete it within 24 hours.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction — view and edit your profile and addresses in your account, or ask us.
- Delete your account or data — in the app: My Account → Delete Account, or use our Delete Account & Data page. We delete it within 24 hours.
- Notifications and location — turn them off at any time in your phone settings.
- Marketing — reply STOP or ask us to stop promotional messages.
7. Children
The Service is meant for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated.
